Christan Jemol Edwards also known as DJ Protunes "A New Experience" is a Trinidadian native who resides in Brooklyn. From a very young age he was introduced to the art of dj-ing by his father Christopher who was also a former DJ. He then developed a love and feel for it; having DJ equipment such as L.P's,45's,turntables,amplifiers,processors,mixers and speakers around him it wasn't long before Christan followed in the same foot steps as his father. After moving to The United States at the age of 13 Protunes was devastated because he wasn't able to use the equipment he grew up with, as a result he took a break where he focused more on school. At the age of 16 he met a guy who went by the name DJ Jap; who later became one of his very good friends. He introduced him to djing computer wise. This is when DjProtunes started using Virtual DJ where he learned how to mix, blend and much more. From then on he started to make sample mixes just to play in his house for his family to hear.
Encouraged by the feedback he received, Protunes decided to make dj-ing an important factor in his life. A few months later he upgraded to Serato Scratch Live where he took his skills to another level. At the age of 18 he earned his first gig during the summer time at a backyard party located in queens, and from there on out his career took off. His work ethic and motivation has earned him the opportunity to DJ at several clubs, colleges, high schools and even concerts around the tri-state area; as well as other states. DJ Protunes has worked alongside artists such as Benjai, Tessanne Chin, Jacob Latimore, Diggy Simmons, Fred The Godson and Lil'Bitts; just to name a few.
So what's next for the Trinidadian DJ from Brooklyn? Apart from being a club DJ, Protunes is currently on an Anti-Bullying tour around the tri-state area with his group Creative Boys Culture(CBC). He recently landed a slot on not one but two of Brooklyn's radio station's; Red Hot Radio or 102.3fm and True Caribbean Radio or 91.9fm. DJ Protunes is also the official DJ for Hottestvip.com. He plans to one day expand his career as a DJ globally.
